Much of The Learning Center's philosophy can be summed up by the adage "Nothing Succeeds Like Success!"  We believe that learning provides its own rewards and that success is the most important ingredient in any learning system.

Our experience indicates that many students today are locked into what we call the "failure chain".  They are engaged in a pattern of continuing failure, frustration, and guilt.  They tend to consider the learning situation more a threat than an opporunity.  These students may seek to avoid failure either by turning their creative energies inware by day-dreaming or drawing to pass the time or they may direct their learning energies outware by disturbing the class, by becoming behavior problems and by being disruptive.  Some may simply become apathetic to learning and do as little as possible to get by.

Such reactions are typical of many students of average or above average intelligence who have never discovered the joy which is the innate reward of learning.  They may not be dropouts from school, but they are just as absent.  They have become "tune outs" from the learning process.   The Learning Center believes that with the proper diagnostic evaluation, and individual help, many students can be rescued from the failure chain pattern, and be reintroduced to the natural and uniquely human rewards of learning.  As noted, we thing that success is the key to any such rebuilding process.  At The Learning Center we see to it that success in learning becomes not a promise, but a reality.
